Private Teaching
James taught Jazz piano for 7 years at Middlesex University in London and is currently teaching at Sevenoaks Independent School, where he has taught for 15 years.
Pupils should be at least 11 years old (adults welcome) and should either have grade 5 classical piano or an excellent ear.

Summer International Piano & Composition School
2019 saw the first year of Jazz piano and improvisation being included in the 4 day piano course.
This is a highly recommended summer course for pianists and composers and includes a wonderful selection of expert tutors.
This year I had the great honour and pleasure of working alongside: Michael Dolovich, Elena Zozina, Emre Oztek, Simon Lane, prof. Mikhail Kazakevich, Lora Dimitrova and Fred Scott.

Individual Lesson Plans
Because each student is different and Jazz & improvisation is all about the individual, so are your lessons. I create the material for each lesson, to be accessed via Google drive. This means that I can include text, music notation, audio and links and tailor each lesson to each student.
James is a member of the Incorporated Society of Musician.

James also has a current DBS (CRB) certificate, with all current safeguarding training up to date.
