Jazz Piano – Introduction – Chord Construction
Learning to quickly build chords is one of the most essential aspects of jazz piano.
TIP! The quickest way to learn chords is to know your major scales!
Major and Minor:
The most basic chords are major and minor triads (triad = 3 notes).
Major Triad
A major triad is made up of a root (1), major 3rd (3) and perfect 5th (5)
Minor Triad
A minor triad is made up of a root (1), minor 3rd (b3) and perfect 5th (5)
Practise building major and minor chords on all twelve notes!
