Jazz Piano – Basic Harmony – Triads
3. Basic Harmony - Triads
NOTE! It’s essential that you know your 12 major scales before you can begin scale tone chords
Triads:
To build a triad (3 note chord) you need a Root (1st), 3rd & 5th.
We can build triads on each degree of a major scale as in fig4
fig4.
NOTE! Each chord in a major scale will naturally be either major, minor or diminished.
Practise building triads in all twelve notes.
